8.3-9 A cylinder filled with oil is under pressure from a piston, as shown in the figure. The diameter \(d\) of the piston is \(48 \text{ mm}\) and the compressive force \(F\) is \(16 \text{ kN}\). The maximum allowable shear stress \(\tau_{\text{allow}}\) in the wall of the cylinder is \(42 \text{ MPa}\). What is the minimum permissible thickness \(t_{\min}\) of the cylinder wall? (See figure.) 8.3-10 Solve the preceding problem if \(d = 90 \text{ mm}\), \(F = 42 \text{ kN}\), and \(\tau_{\text{allow}} = 40 \text{ MPa}\).
