(Fig. P5.5 Description): A simply supported beam $AD$ of length $L$ has a pin support at $A$ and a roller support at $D$. Two concentrated downward loads $P$ are applied: one at point $B$ (distance $a$ from $A$) and another at point $C$ (distance $a$ from $D$).
