3.12 To reduce the total mass of the assembly of Prob. 3.11, a new design is being considered in which the diameter of shaft BC will be smaller. Determine the smallest diameter of shaft BC for which the maximum value of the shearing stress in the assembly will not increase. Reference from Prob. 3.11: - Torque at pulley A: \( T_A = 300 \text{ N}\cdot\text{m} \) - Torque at pulley B: \( T_B = 400 \text{ N}\cdot\text{m} \) - Diameter of solid shaft AB: \( d_{AB} = 30 \text{ mm} \) - Diameter of solid shaft BC: \( d_{BC} = 46 \text{ mm} \) - Pulley A and B torques act in the same direction.
