3.10 The shafts of the pulley assembly shown are to be redesigned. Knowing that the allowable shearing stress in each shaft is 8.5 ksi, determine the smallest allowable diameter of (a) shaft AB, (b) shaft BC. Given from Fig. P3.9 and P3.10: - Applied Torque at pulley A: \(T_A = 3.6 \text{ kip}\cdot\text{in}\) - Applied Torque at pulley B: \(T_B = 10.4 \text{ kip}\cdot\text{in}\) - Applied Torque at pulley C: \(T_C = 6.8 \text{ kip}\cdot\text{in}\) - Allowable shearing stress: \(\tau_{\text{all}} = 8.5 \text{ ksi}\)
