2.117 The steel rod $ABC$ is attached to rigid supports and is unstressed at a temperature of $25^\circ C$. The steel is assumed elastoplastic with $E = 200\text{ GPa}$ and $\sigma_Y = 250\text{ MPa}$. The temperature of both portions of the rod is then raised to $150^\circ C$. Knowing that $\alpha = 11.7 \times 10^{-6}/^\circ C$, determine (a) the stress in both portions of the rod, (b) the deflection of point $C$.
